Joint Statement by International Civil Society Organizations Condemning Israel’s Military Attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran

We, the undersigned international civil society and human rights organizations, strongly condemn the recent military attack by Israel on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This act constitutes a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2(4) on the prohibition of the use of force and the principle of territorial sovereignty, while further destabilizing a region already plagued by conflict.

Israel’s attack on nuclear facilities under international safeguards constitutes a blatant violation of international law. This reckless act not only threatens regional security but also undermines non-proliferation frameworks, escalating the risk of nuclear escalation. The international community must take a firm stance against such flagrant breaches.

This attack exacerbates sectarian and geopolitical tensions, threatening the security of the Middle East and beyond. We warn that continued aggression will fuel a cycle of violence, endangering civilian lives and violating international humanitarian law.

We emphasize the importance of an immediate return to the path of diplomacy, and believe that constructive dialogue, based on mutual respect and the sincere commitment of all parties, is the only sustainable way to reach understanding and peacefully resolve existing challenges.

Urgent Demands:

  1. An immediate ceasefire and cessation of retaliatory measures.
  2. International sanctions against violators of international law.
  3. Protecting civilian lives and not attacking critical infrastructure.
