On September 18, 2023, the CEO and experts of the Foundation for Dialogue and Solidarity of United Nations (FODASUN) met Mr. Christophe Peschoux, the former head of the United Nations Special Procedures Department, in his office in Geneva.
After the initial coordination with Mr. Peschoux and the presence of FODASUN’s representatives in Geneva in September 18, 2023 a meeting was held with him in his office located in the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. In this meeting, the CEO and experts of FODASUN discussed with Mr. Christophe Peschoux about future cooperation and holding a workshop on human rights mechanisms in Iran. In addition, Mr. Peschoux expressed his satisfaction with the influential activities of FODASUN in human rights and evaluated the holding of training workshops to learn about the practical issues and mechanisms of human rights as very useful and effective. The CEO of FODASUN, after thanking Mr. Peschoux, expressed his hope that by holding this workshop in Iran, Iranian leaders in the country will be able to use their capacities to play a role in the United Nations Human Rights Council and be the real voice of the Iranian nation in the international arena.
Mr. Christophe Peschoux has many years of experience related to human rights. He spent 4 years in the Red Cross and 25 years in the Human Rights Committee as an expert, then 4 years as the head of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United Nations Human Rights Council and has been operating 8 years as the head of special procedures of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. He has had important responsibilities in the human rights branches of the United Nations, which include the head of the department of torture, summary executions, enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, freedom of religion and belief, and human rights and fighting terrorism.
