Meeting with the head of the Middle East and North Africa Department (MENA) at the High Commissioner for Human Rights

On September 20, 2023, the CEO and experts of the Foundation of Dialogue and Solidarity of United Nations (FODASUN) met with Mr. Mohammad Ali Alnsour, the head of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) department at the High Commissioner for Human Rights in his office in Geneva.

Ms. Amal Al-Hudhari, the head of the Iran section in Mena, was also present in this meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Masoud Ravankhah, CEO of the foundation, presented a report on the foundation’s activities related to peace and human rights, while introducing the institution and the most important measures of recent years. After thanking the foundation for the current meeting, Mohammad Ali Alnsour considered Iran an important country in the region and stated that he is well aware of the problems of financial resources and the limitations of Iranian domestic NGOs. He spoke about the mechanism in the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which allows Iranian citizens, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran or the Human Rights Headquarters, to request to hold courses to familiarize Iranian non-governmental organizations with the human rights mechanisms of the Human Rights Council. In this regard, the Foundation of Dialogue and Solidarity of United Nations (FODASUN) will execute the fields of participation and role-playing of Iranian citizens in the Human Rights Council in cooperation with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) department in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the necessary training programs soon.

In addition to his current mission, Mr. Mohammad Ali Alnsour has served as an advisor to the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Before that, he held the positions of Director of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Jordan (2013) and Human Rights Advisor at the Permanent Mission of Jordan to the United Nations in New York. He is a lawyer and a member of the Jordanian Bar Association. He has a master’s degree in international law and human rights, a master’s degree in conflict resolution, an advanced diploma in diplomacy, and a bachelor’s degree in law.
