The 5th international conference “The Future of Peace and Human Rights in West Asia” hosted by FODASON was held with the cooperation of domestic and foreign institutions from six countries of the world on Monday, December 11, 2023, in Hybrid mode.
The in-person conference, marking Human Rights Day, was attended by Mr. Stefan Priesner, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Iran, Mr. Mohsen Ghanei, Head of the Department of Development and Human Rights Treaties in Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Amirsaed Vakil, Attorney at Law and Assistant Professor at the University of Tehran, Faculty of Law and Political Science.
In the virtual part of this conference, nine speakers from eight countries, England, France, Netherlands, Austria, Uganda, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq, gave speeches. Mr. Livingstone Sewanyana, United Nations Independent Expert on the Promotion of a Democratic and Equitable International Order and Dr. Grażyna Baranowska, Member of Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances.
Previous iterations of this conference have witnessed the active participation of universities, international institutions, and notable figures such as Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Iranian Foreign Minister, Dr. Kazem Gharib Abadi, Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights, alongside other scholars, ambassadors, UN entities, and parliamentarians from diverse nations.
Foundation of Dialogue and Solidarity of the United Nations is a non-governmental organization based in Iran, dedicated to advancing regional and international peace, fostering tolerance, promoting dialogue, and advocating for the protection of Human Rights.
