One of the distinguishing features of this period’s meeting for Iran and Iranian NGOs was that Prof. Alena douhan, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of the unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights; the first UNSR got the chance to be in Iran after 17 years, is going to present her report on the impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights in Iran.
Considering the importance of the Human Rights Council meeting on the one hand; and the growing interest of the Board of FODASUN to increase its activities in the international arena, on the other hand, it was decided that two of the experts of the foundation along with the honorable CEO would participate in this period of the council meeting.
This trip lasted for almost a week. During their stay in Geneva, the foundation’s experts participated in other meetings, including an interactive conversation with the special rapporteur on Afghanistan and several side events.
In addition to holding an exhibition at the United Nations, which was the result of the collective cooperation of Iranian NGOs present in Geneva, the experts of the foundation held a Side Event about the negative impact of unilateral sanctions on the decline of human rights standards in Iran with the presence of UNSR. Besides, they had meetings with other UN special rapporteurs and several UN officials and non-governmental organizations.
