The Israeli regime, through propaganda and false claims, depicts Dr. Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi as a key figure in Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program to justify his assassination. However, these allegations are not only entirely baseless and lacking credibility, but Israel’s attack led to the martyrdom of Dr. Tehranchi’s family members and neighbors.
Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics in 1988 and his Master’s degree in Solid-State Physics in 1991 from Shahid Beheshti University. He then obtained his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1997. He also held a research fellowship at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy. Upon returning to Iran, he joined the faculty at Shahid Beheshti University. Dr. Tehranchi was an expert in condensed matter physics, nanotechnology, laser technology, magnetism, and quantum physics, with over 100 scientific publications and several registered patents. These achievements demonstrate that he made significant contributions not only to the advancement of nuclear knowledge in Iran but also to the global progress of nuclear science. His inventions include nanotechnology-based medical devices for disease diagnosis and therapy, advanced energy optimization systems for industrial applications, innovative agricultural irradiation techniques designed to enhance crop resilience and yield, cutting-edge laboratory instrumentation for nuclear physics research, and next-generation energy storage technologies. Dr. Tehranchi’s scholarly record encompasses 123 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and over 135 papers presented at national and international conferences. According to Google Scholar, his articles have garnered a total of 1,029 citations, resulting in an h-index of 17. Notably, 37 of his articles have each been cited more than 10 times.[1] The Scopus website also reports 1111 citations for his articles. [2]
In addition to his research and scientific activities in nuclear science, Dr. Tehranchi held significant administrative positions in Iran’s higher education sector. Notably, he served as President of Shahid Beheshti University and, after a brief interval, was appointed President of Islamic Azad University; a responsibility he held until the end of his life. These positions—particularly the presidency of Islamic Azad University, the largest university system in the country—demonstrate Dr. Tehranchi’s deep engagement in the management of higher education on a national scale. He played a pivotal role in enhancing universities and improving the skills and capabilities of students, which clearly positions him far beyond the role of a “nuclear scientist.” Dr. Tehranchi placed special emphasis on skill-based education and practical knowledge. During his presidency at Islamic Azad University, several initiatives were implemented in this regard. For example, the Capital Market Skills School project provided a platform for students to learn how to buy and sell stocks and bonds and engage in any other activities related to capital markets in order to manage their economic lives professionally.
The assassination of Dr. Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi is a blatant example of organized violence directed against Iran’s scientific progress in pursuit of a peaceful and prosperous future for its people. His academic record and expertise were aligned with peaceful nuclear programs aimed at sustainable development, and his executive roles were dedicated to strengthening Iran’s higher education system—a reality that the Israeli regime attempts to distort and invert. The action that Israel carried out under the allegation of “protecting global peace” was, in fact, a flagrant violation of human rights (the right to life and the right to benefit from scientific progress) and international humanitarian law (the prohibition on targeting civilians), justified by fabricated pretexts. Nevertheless, the truth will not remain buried beneath the rubble of the missile-struck building; rather, the voice of truth will ring out louder and clearer.
