The CEO and expert of the Foundation of Dialogue and solidarity of United Nations met with Mr. Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson and Deputy Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This meeting was held on January 18, 2023, on the brink of the fourth international conference on the future of peace and human rights in West Asia, organized by the Foundation of Dialogue and solidarity of United Nations. At the beginning of this meeting, Mr. Masoud Ravankhah, CEO of the foundation, briefly explained the recent activities of this foundation. With the support of the private sector and voluntary activities, the Foundation of Dialogue and solidarity of United Nations has been able to take important measures in creating an environment for dialogue and protecting human rights. The participation of important political, academic and cultural figures in the face-to-face and virtual programs of the foundation in the past years is one of the manifestations of the success of this foundation in realizing its important mission to strengthen peace and friendship. The presence of Ms. Alena Douhan, UN Special Rapporteur on the negative impacts of Unilateral Coercive Measures on the enjoyment of human rights in several programs since 2019 until now, shows that this NGO is a leader in defending human rights and supporting and working with international mechanisms to address Human rights issues.
Deputy Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while warmly welcoming the members of the Foundation of Dialogue and solidarity of United Nations, considered communication with NGOs to be the basic task of Deputy Public Diplomacy and considered the role of non-governmental organizations to be very important in solving major cultural and political issues. For example, in the matter of normalizing relations with Israel, although some governments took measures to compromise with Israel, Muslim nations have opposed normalization through institutions and grassroots movements. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the presence of various political and scientific personalities from different nationalities in FODASUN’s conferences as its strength and emphasized on greater synergy at different levels.
At the end of this meeting, Mr. Kanaani delivered his speech as the opening of the fourth session of the international conference on the future of peace and human rights in West Asia. At this conference, prominent personalities from the countries of Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, America, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Egypt and Canada have given speeches on the axes of crime against humanity and the prospects for peace and development.
