Sardar Bozorg Ancient Water reservoir

The largest single-dome water reservoir in Iran and the world, built in 1191 HS (1227 AH-1812 AD), was built in the city road of Qazvin. This dome building, a unique and showing example in Iran, has a tall dome and tegular with skylights on its brick body. This water storage is a huge and interesting system of urban water supply, with a reservoir volume of over 3,000 cubic meters.
On both sides, there is platform of stone for sitting and rest at the entrance, a stone path too, and each stairs have an average height of 25 centimeters. Together, this water storage has 50 stone steps that lead to a well-known canal called Milky Way (rah-e-shiri) that has an arched roof. The entrance to the water storage has a wide arched vault with two-layer of arches, decorated with brickwork and tile in a geometric design.
The inner ceiling of the vaulted middle arches decorated with bricks, decorated with tiles and have decorative elements. The water tank of this building is a square-shaped structure that has a beautiful, tall dome that giving it a special beauty. This dome is made of brick and there is a ventilator located at the highest part of it, and the height of its highest point to the bottom of the reservoir is about 28.5 meters. In addition to the central winder, four other lattice channel provided for ventilation in the dome.
