The necessity for Iran and Iraq to stand together in difficult circumstances

Dr. Aliya Al-Emara, a former member of the Iraqi parliament and former head of the Iraqi-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee said: “Just as the Islamic Republic stood with Iraq in all its ordeals, it is certain that Iraq will be proactive in standing with its neighbor in its circumstances such as economic conditions and the existence of an economic siege on the Islamic Republic”.

After Dr. Aliya thanked the Foundation of Dialogue and Solidarity of United Nations for holding the conference, she described the topic of her speech as prospects for peaceful cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran. In reference to the divine and heavenly principles of good neighborliness in the Noble Qur’an and the narrations of the Noble Messenger, helping neighbors in difficulties was considered a religious duty. She told the former member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Iraqi Parliament that peaceful coexistence within the country is a prerequisite for good neighborliness, adding: “When the nation believes in peaceful coexistence among its people, with all its components, sects and religions, here it will believe in the issue of peaceful coexistence and mutual dialogue with other nations.”

The former head of the Iraqi-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee spoke about the many natural, social, cultural and economic commonalities between the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and thus called for peaceful cooperation between Iran and Iraq. She expressed the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in embracing the opposition at the time of the former Iraqi regime and helping the Iraqis fight the terrorist organization ISIS, and said: “Just as the Islamic Republic stood with Iraq in all its adversities, it is certain that Iraq will be a race to stand with its neighbor in its circumstances such as economic conditions and the presence of The economic embargo on the Islamic Republic. She pointed out that Iraq can play a major role in bringing peace and bringing views closer between the Islamic Republic and countries with which it may differ somewhat.

The former member of the Iraqi parliament stressed that Iraq is the heart of the region and said: “When security, peace and peaceful coexistence prevail throughout Iraq, it will spread to the entire region and will have a very positive impact on the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people as a whole.” She stressed the role of civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, universities and schools, as well as governments in raising awareness of strengthening relations and peaceful cooperation between the Iraqi people and the Iranian people, and enumerated channels for deepening relations and strengthening peaceful cooperation between the two peoples, such as workshops, conferences, joint meetings, exchange visits and exchange of experiences. At the end of her speech, the doctor thanked the Iranian government and people for promoting the prospects for peaceful cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
