The old gate of Tehran

The old gate of Tehran

The old gate of Tehran or the old gate of Tehran is the name of a gateway in Qazvin city, which protected the city of Qazvin from attacks, robbery and plunder of other cities. The gate was built outside the city, but now it is due to the expansion of the population, now it is inside the city of Qazvin.
Qazvin had eight gates in past. Their name was Sheikh-Abad gate, Imamzadeh-Hasan gate, Rasht gate, Baghshah gate, Darb-e Koushk gate, Tabriz gate, Tehran gate, Khandaq-gate. Each of these gates presented as a cultural and artistic element of Qazvin in the past and express the arts of the people of this country. Nowadays, there are only two gates are remained; gate of Darb-e Koushk and the old gate of Tehran. The old gate of Tehran is one of these two gates, which is located on Tehran’s old street (Hashemi Square), and is one of the buildings of the Qajar period, which was renovated and tiled in 1964.
